DRUG HOOK ROUND WHIP TAPE COMMENTS
CANOPAR (Thenium Closylate) **** --- --- --- Don't use in a nuring bitch. Use one size of pill only. May induce vomiting.
DNP (Disophenol) **** --- --- --- Use with caution in anemic dogs or those with respiratory problems. Don't overdose.
DRONCIT (Praziquantel) --- --- --- **** Available as pill or injection.
NEMEX (Pyrantel Pamoate) **** **** --- --- Can be given to nursing puppies. Available as liquid or tablets.
PANACUR (Bunamide) **** **** **** ** Granular formulation. No contraindications.
PIPERAZINE --- *** --- --- Don't overdose.
SCOLABAN (Bunamidine) --- --- --- **** Occasional sudden death in large dogs. Don't use with Styquin or in dogs with heart condition, severe debilitation, impaired liver function. Do not crush tablets before administering.
STYRID CARICIDE (Diethylcarbamizine and Strylpyridium) * * --- --- Don't use if dog has heartworms.
TASK (Dichlorvos) **** **** --- --- Don't use if dog has heartworms. Don't use concurrently with insecticides. Injectable form is good for whips.
TELMINTIC (Mebendazole) **** **** **** * Wide margin of safety. Give to the dog for 3 to 5 days.
THIABENDAZOLE (Mintezol) --- --- --- --- Vomiting sometimes occurs. Can be used in threadworm treatment.
VERCOM PASTE (Febantel and Praziquantel) **** **** **** **** Administer to adults by mouth or in food without regard to feeding schedule. Administer to puppies less than 6 months of age only by mouth on a full stomach.
IVERMECTIN **** **** --- --- Not approved for dogs as a dewormer, only for heartworm prevention. May cause seizures in Collies and Collie mixes.
